Youth Committee |
Embracing Life Through Cultural Healing was a youth conference that happened in Prince Albert on March 25th to the 27th, 2019.
The youth planning committee were youth from all over Northern Saskatchewan, and the conference was for youth ages between 14 to 29. We invited 4 participates from each First Nation and Metis communities in Northern Saskatchewan. We provided food, mileage and hotel rooms for each individual that registered. It was a huge success with approximately 220 registered youth and chaperones. We partnered with PAGC to create this event for the youth, with help from multiple sponsers such as La Loche Friendship Centre, The Métis Nation of Saskatchewan, Jordan’s Principle, Government Relations, Saskatchewan Health Authority, Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan, Cameco Corporation and Orano. We had special guests like SUPAMAN, K.A.S.P, MIKA Drummers, James Anderson and much more. The youth planning committee wanted this youth conference to be as traditional as possible, so they included having pipe ceremonies every morning, and also has a beauitful round dance on the second day.
